Little Girl

This is Little Girl who is a special needs case, as she is deaf. She is a sweet soul.

She came to WCHS as an abandoned dog found about 20 miles out the hwy, alone, afraid, dehydrated and hungry. From what we have learned she will be 1 year old on July 25th. No owner has come forward.

Little Girl is ready to land in a new home where she will be loved and cared for. She is house broken, likes all animals but especially likes to be with people. She will lay at your feet when watching TV or working at your desk but she also likes to play her toys!

Her foster home reports that Little Girl likes to sleep with her people and be with you. She will be your shadow.

Little Girl will do best in a home where she will be included in your daily life. She loves car rides. She is learning sign language as part of her training. She will need a secure fence yard when outside.

Little Girl adoption includes her spay and vaccinations.

To apply to adopt fill out the on line pre application form for an interview. And to meet Little Girl, contact Kathy Reynolds at 541-263-2424.

ADOPTED 2022

Rambo

Wallowa County Humane Society has just taken in an owner surrender looking for his furever home.

Rambo is a 4 1/2 year old, neutered hound mix.  He's a very young at heart and sweet boy.   He loves to play with other dogs and is good with his cats.  Neighbor cats he likes to chase but would never harm.  He's well mannered, mostly obedient and all his shots are current, including the rattlesnake vaccine.

Rambo needs a family to give him the love and attention he deserves.  He's not good with young kids (too much energy) but 10 on up is fine.  He's not smart about livestock, but loves to catch chipmunks and other critters.

Rambo would excel in a home where he can be inside with his family and when outside has a secure fence yard.

Rambo is a very good boy.  His current home doesn't want to give him up, but realizes he would be so much happier with a complete family, not just one person who has to work all day.

Is Rambo the right dog for you and your family?

To meet Rambo call Kathy Gisler Reynolds 541-263-2424.

ADOPTED 2022

Missy

This is Missy. Missy had a rough start to life living as a stray and trying to scavenge for food out in the cold, snowy winter of Wallowa County. Luckily for her, she was brought into a home and given food, water and a nice heated bed. She learned to love the finer things in life, such as the indoors and people, and has no interest in being a street cat anymore. She is incredibly sweet, playful (including occasionally playing fetch!), and very snuggly. She demands to be the center of attention at all times and she will be sure to tell you if you try to ignore her! Missy is a little timid around dogs, but wants to be friends with other cats. Unfortunately for her, the other resident cats in the home do not want to be friends with her. An ideal home for her would be somewhere she can snuggle up to her human(s) and show them that she is the best biscuit maker in the land.

Missy is estimated to be about a year old. She has been spayed, wormed, vaccinated for rabies and is litterbox trained . If you would like to meet Missy, please call or text (text preferred) Victoria at 541-805-5651.

There will be a $45 adoption fee that will be donated to the Humane Society to continue to help pets in the county.

Bella

Bella is a purebred blue heeler. She has been raised on a 2600 acre ranch since she was a pup.
She loves to go on long walks, usually five miles per day on the ranch, and she loves to swim in creeks and ponds. She is shock collar trained and responds well. She is not given to chase wild game, but has treed several cougars and a bobcat. She is house trained, although she has lived outside most of her life. She does chase lawnmowers, sprinklers, cats, and chickens, and tries to bite the shovel when you are shoveling snow. She is a great dog and has been a loyal companion to her family. But unfortunately her owner was just recently diagnosed with stage 4 cancer and Bella is needing a home.

Contact Kathy Reynolds  541-263-2424

if you can help Bella in giving her a loving home.

Lacey

Lacey is a 6-year female old muted (grey, white and orange) calico cat. She is neutered. I adopted her through the Wallowa County Humane Society as a small 6-month old kitten in 2015.  She is fully vaccinated and dewormed.

Lacey is affectionate, and likes to curl up on my lap in the evenings when I’ reading or especially when I’m trying to use my laptop computer.

She is one of the smartest cats I’ve ever had or known.

She loves to chase the laser pointer. But far beyond that, she has figured out how to open the back door and let herself out (It has a lever handle.) (She seldom closes the door behind her, though.)

When we spent a winter in a cabin at Wallowa Lake, she became friends with the deer.

She would play games with the young deer, which included “Crouching Tiger’, in which she would crouch down and stalk one of the younger (6-month old) deer. The deer would run, Lacy would chase it, then the deer would stop and this game would repeat several times.   She also became sufficientlyand would lead our hikes on the moraine,  friends with one of the little deer that they would touch noses. (Videos of this should be on the Wallowa County Humane Society website)

She also watched my dog retrieve his ball and started retrieving a cat toy that I would throw for her.  She also learned to walk on a leash, though we haven’t done that for several years.

Lacey is a ”talker” and will make her expectations (which are very high) known.  She is a mostly indoor cat, but likes to go outside for short times, especially at night.  She will say “thanks” when you open the door for her to let her back in.

Lacey is a bit of a finicky eater, and fastidious overall.  Fortunately, her favorite food is Purina Naturals Cat Chow.  She will eat canned cat food, but only a little at a time.  In fact, she is not much of an eater. But she does like a bedtime snack.

Lacey is accustomed to dogs and their somewhat slovenly habits, but will also (cautiously) lie down with them. She generally doesn’t pay them much attention and is quite capable of letting them know that she does NOT want to be bothered. But she also will curl up with me and two dogs on the bed at night.

Lacey thinks of herself as a huntress when watching birds or squirrels or deer out the window.  But in reality,  I’ve never known her to catch any wild creature. Not even a deer. She’s never brought any “offerings” or “gifts” to me. And her toilet/litter-box habits in the house are without reproach.

In short, Lacey is:

  • Muted calico (gray, white, orange) Neutered 6-year-old female, fully vaccinated and dewormed. (Double Arrow Vet Clinic)
  • Smart, playful, and affectionate
  • Fastidious and a cautious eater who like Purina Natural cat chow.
  • Gets along well with dogs; not much of a hunter except when watching thru the window.
  • Full veterinary records available.

Sarge

Sarge is a 4 year old Mastiff. Gentle giant. He likes dogs, cats, and  he like kids. Sarge likes a warm home and a lap to snuggle on.

Sarge needs a home large enough to accommodate his 105# body.

ADOPTED 2022

Frank

In November Frank, a 1 year old Walker hound was surrendered to Wallowa County Humane Society to find him a fur ever home. Frank was kept outside and was not a house dog.  He needed some time to adjust. Well a lot has changed for the better for Frank. A foster home wanted to help Frank so he could eventually go to his fur ever home.  After a couple of months Frank is ready for his home.  He is house trained, he is neutered and vaccinated. He gets along well with other dogs. He has not been around cats so we aren’t sure about that. I can’t say enough of the good people who offer their homes to foster. Fostering an animal in need is so special. You’re giving the animals a second chance of finding a loving home. So much better for them than being in a shelter.  Frank is a very ACTIVE dog. He loves cross country skiing, hiking, camping, and anything outdoors.  His draw back is, his nose… he should never be off leash as his nose gets him into mischief. He gets on a scent and he is gone!  So for now until he gets further training he is kept on a 30’ lead while enjoying his outdoors.  When home He must have secure fenced yard. He enjoys being inside and being with his family.

Capone came to WCHS due to life changes with his owner who could no longer care for him.

Capone is a easy going guy, he likes to love on his stuff toys, loves to go on short walks and chase a ball.

Capones ideal home would be a not so active home. Capone has a heart murmur that he was born with. His murmur does not require medication.
